The Testmo Jira add-on gives users the ability to view tests, results, cases, runs & more from Testmo within linked Jira issues so you can see test coverage and the status of testing right in Jira.
By popular request, we’ve added support for Jira administrators to limit which Jira projects display the Testmo Jira add-on so you can get enhanced control and granularity.
With this release, we are also adding support for dark mode in Jira, to improve the experience of users that prefer using dark mode when reviewing Testmo data in the context of a Jira issue.
Finally, we’ve also improved support for the add-on across popular web browsers, and implemented some enhancements to session management in the add-on that take advantage of new browser storage technologies.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Because the new features require an update of the Jira add-on, it is required to re-authorize the Jira connection in Testmo to enable the Jira issue lookup functionality again (otherwise you will receive a 401 authentication failure response). To do so, simply follow these steps (keep in mind that authorizing the connection requires Jira admin permissions):
Navigate to the Administration > Integrations area. Click on the Configure button for Jira Cloud. For each Jira connection, click the Edit button then click the “Authorize with Jira” button. Important: Click the Save button for the connection.
Once the steps above have been completed for any affected Jira connections, the Jira information will be displayed in your Testmo projects as normal.

In this release we also introduce a highly requested feature for the Testmo Test Management for Jira add-on: the ability to limit which projects the add-on is enabled for. This new functionality gives administrators the flexibility to tailor the use of the Testmo app to specific Jira projects, ensuring that it’s only available where it is most needed. This selective enabling not only streamlines the user interface but also enhances security and resource allocation by restricting access to relevant teams and projects.
Administrators can now easily configure project-specific settings from the app’s management console, choosing precisely which Jira projects will have the test case management add-on activated by selecting them individually or in bulk using Ctrl or Cmd+click.
This granular control allows for better organization and focus, particularly in large organizations with multiple ongoing Jira projects. By enabling the add-on only for selected projects, teams can avoid unnecessary clutter and maintain a more organized and efficient workspace. This new feature empowers users to maximize the utility of our add-on while maintaining a clean and user-friendly environment in Jira.
We are excited to bring a sleek and modern visual experience to the Testmo Test Management for Jira add-on , enhancing usability and reducing eye strain when working in Jira’s dark mode. This new feature is designed with the Jira and Testmo user in mind, so, if you prefer to use dark mode in Jira, now Testmo will match your preferences!
Our dark mode implementation is fully integrated with Jira’s existing dark mode settings, allowing for a seamless transition between the two modes. Users can now enjoy a consistent and cohesive dark theme across the entire Jira platform, ensuring that their workflow remains uninterrupted and visually cohesive. With this update, we aim to enhance productivity and provide a more pleasant user experience, catering to the preferences and needs of our diverse user base.
This release also includes support for additional web browsers in our Testmo Test Management for Jira add-on, leveraging the latest browser APIs to enhance the Testmo user experience and ensure smooth performance of the Testmo add-on regardless of which browser you are using. This update ensures that users can confirm browser access to Testmo content within Jira, allowing browsers to render the Testmo add-on, permit Testmo cookies where needed to facilitate the integration, and maintain logged-in session information seamlessly. By utilizing modern browser capabilities, we provide a more integrated and secure environment, ensuring that Testmo’s functionalities are accessible across a broader range of browsers
With this enhancement, users will experience an improved workflow as their authentication and session details are preserved in their browser when accessing Testmo within Jira. This eliminates the need for repeated logins and ensures that session information is securely handled and readily available. Our commitment to leveraging the latest browser APIs not only improves compatibility and performance but also reinforces our dedication to providing a secure and user-friendly experience. This enhancement reflects our ongoing efforts to support diverse user preferences and maintain a seamless, productive environment for all Jira users.
This update is now live for all accounts. If you aren’t using Testmo yet, you can also register for a free Testmo trial to get started.
