Today, we’re excited to introduce one of our most significant additions to Testmo to date: AI Test Case Generation (Beta).
This new capability allows teams to generate structured, reviewable test cases directly from requirements – without leaving Testmo, without breaking traceability, and without disrupting how your team already works.
Even more importantly, AI Test Case Generation is available to all Testmo users across all plans.
AI That Fits Inside Your Testing Model
There’s been no shortage of AI announcements in software testing over the past year. But one common theme we’ve heard from teams is this:
How does this actually fit into how we test?
In Testmo, we didn’t set out to build AI features for their own sake. We set out to strengthen the testing lifecycle you already rely on:
Design & execute test cases
Track coverage and traceability
Report on testing outcomes
AI Test Case Generation fits directly into this existing model. Instead of starting from an empty repository folder, teams can now:
Provide clear requirements
Let AI propose an initial set of test cases
Review, refine, and guide those suggestions
Generate real test cases that live directly in the repository
Report on test coverage & outcomes
The result is a fully integrated part of your test management system.
End to End, From Requirements to Repository
The workflow is intentionally structured and human-guided.
Start in the Repository Initiate generation directly from the Testmo repository and explicitly select or create the folder where test cases will live.
Provide Clear Requirements Add structured requirements using a rich text editor. You can also reuse previously created requirements, see how many test cases they’re associated with, and iterate on them over time.
Review AI Suggestions AI proposes an initial set of test cases. You remain in control, and may edit, refine, or deselect suggestions before proceeding.
Generate Final Test Cases Create fully structured test cases using canonical formats (Text, Steps, or BDD), including custom templates that align with these types.
Maintain Traceability & Coverage Generated test cases are automatically:
Tagged as AI-generated
Linked back to their originating requirementsThis enables filtering, reporting, and requirements traceability inside Testmo dashboards and reports.
By keeping requirements, test cases, execution, and reporting connected, AI test case generation becomes an accelerator – not a standalone experiment.
Designed for Real-World Testing Teams
We built this feature around a few core principles:
Human-in-the-loop design – AI suggests; you review and decide.
Structured output -Test cases are created in canonical formats (Text, Steps, BDD), ensuring consistency.
Traceability by default – Requirement links are automatically included and visible throughout the system.
Administrative control – AI features can be fully disabled at the admin level and controlled via role-based permissions.
Predictable usage – You control how many test cases are generated (between 10 and 60 per request), with the understanding that AI generation is probabilistic by nature.
Built Responsibly
We know AI in testing raises important questions around security and data usage. Testmo AI is designed with enterprise-grade data handling in mind:
Customer data is not used to train underlying AI models.
Data is processed only for the specific generation request.
AI features can be controlled or disabled at the organisation level.
AI Test Case Generation is currently available as a Beta feature, and we’re actively refining it based on customer feedback.
More importantly, this is just the beginning. Our broader vision for AI in Testmo is not a collection of isolated features. It’s an integrated approach that strengthens the entire testing lifecycle – from design to execution to insight.
Available Now — For All Plans
AI Test Case Generation is being rolled out from today (and over the next ~2 weeks) to all Testmo users. If you’re already using Testmo, you’ll soon see the Generate (Beta) option in your repository.
If you’re new to Testmo, now is the perfect time to explore how AI can accelerate your test design workflow without compromising structure or traceability.
